Odd Planets tells an abstract story of creation with sculptural art and digital animation.

A square panel is created using raw materials including wood, fire, and liquid glass. A laser-cut symbol is then placed in the resin pool of this enviroment. These symbols are derived from pieces of wood that are originally part of a laser-cut drawing of primitive creatures, including scorpions, wasps, and frogs.

These "god" pieces are then illuminated as the square panels are constructed into a three dimensional cube that holds a light source. These panels are then given more details such as paint, wires, beads, and glitter. They are then digitally modified in photoshop to play animations. This creates movement and a sense these cubic worlds are living.

Physically, the cubes exist as decorative lamps.

Conceptually, the cube represents the idea of a tesseract, moving beyond the 2D square, and 3D cube, into an 4D hypercube that is meant to be explorered through virtual time and space.

This website allows the user to explore various sides(sites) of the cube, see conceptualization art, and watch a film about the Odd Planets.
